MAPUSA: A passenger van was engulfed in flames at Guiriam on Saturday evening, leaving the vehicle completely charred. The cause of the fire was believed to be a short circuit in the engine.
Owner of the a Mahadev Morajkar stated that he had just recently done maintenaance work on his vehicle in preparation for its upcoming vehicle ianspection by the RTO and had invested aasignificant amount of money and time in restoring the vehicle and doing some engine work, to ensure it passes the test.
While Mahadev was on his way to Mapusa, the van suddenly caught fire, and a moments, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. He however managed to get out of the car in time, but the damage had already been done.
The Mapusa fire department was immediately notified, and they rushed to the site to contain the fire however the damage was aalready done by then.
Thankfully, there were no casualties reported in this incident. However, Mahadev was left devastated and estimated the loss of around Rs 60,000, which included the cost of the maintenance work.
