Yoga played vital role in  fight against COVID: MP

PANJIM: Union Minister for State for Defence Shripad Naik on Friday said that yoga has played an important role in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the world has acknowledged that yoga has been effective in curbing this deadly epidemic.

Naik was talking after the release of the video produced by the AYUSH cell of State Health Department in collaboration with the Goa Yoga Academy, on the eve of 7th International Yoga Day at a programme held at the Paryatan Bhavan, Patto-Panjim. 

State Health Department (AYUSH cell) Deputy Director Dr Datta Bhat, Milind Mahale, Pramod Nagvekar and other office-bearers of Goa Yoga Academy were present.

Speaking further Naik said, “Our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked tirelessly to spread yoga all over the world and it was due to his efforts the United Nations, seven years back took important decision to observe June 21, as the International Yoga Day while giving world status to yoga.”

The Union Minister appealed to the people to mark this year’s International Yoga Day at home with family by following all norms of physical distancing like last year due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr Bhat justified the reason behind to produce the video and said all efforts will be made to reach out this video to as many people as possible through social media.
