PANJIM: Suspended police sub inspector Sunil Gudlar, who was caught on camera in a sting operation peddling drugs, has not reported to the authorities since a long time, sources said.
CBI, which is investigating three separate drug cases in the State, is looking out for him as it is reportedly learnt that two witnesses have confirmed Gudlar is involved in the drug trade.
“He is likely to face arrest again,” CBI sources informed.
Gudlar
, was arrested in October 2011 after being named as an accused in the nexus case, related to Israeli David Driham alias Dudu. He was thereafter released on bail.
Though an official confirmation is awaited, sources in the known told Herald that Gudlar has turned off his phone, making CBI’s efforts to trace his whereabouts all the more difficult.
Dudu’s sister Aayala Driham and his girlfriend Zarina Mazhrunova had caught Gudlar on camera while demanding a bribe to release Dudu.
The tapes were released to media on January 4, 2011. He was subsequently suspended on January 13, 2011.
Gudlar, then attached to Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC), had arrested Dudu with a cocktail of drugs in his possession on February 21, 2010 at Anjuna.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Bombay at Goa has appointed senior lawyer Saresh Lotlikar as amicus curie in the matter of cancellation of Gudlar’s bail.
While this matter is fixed for hearing next week, Gudlar has supposedly moved Special Judge seeking anticipatory bail wherein activists Kashinath Shetye and two others have filed an intervention opposing his bail application.
