Health worker course held
PANJIM (HND): The Valedictory function for Health Worker Course and Foreign Orientation Programme conducted by Vrundavan Hospital & Research Centre in collaboration with Overseas Employment Agency of Goa was held recently
The function was presided over by the chief guest, Chairman of Overseas Employment Agency of Goa, Vice Admiral John De Silva, Director of Overseas Employment Agency of Goa U D Kamat, was the guest of honour. Managing Director of Vrundavan Hospital and Research Centre, Dr Digambar Naik and Chairperson of Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan Nelly Rodrigues were also present.
The function started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and with welcome speech by Elmina Maria D’Souza. Dr Digambar
Naik in his address to the students stressed on the importance of profession of nursing and need to continually evolve the knowledge base through reading medical literature and other courses as world is developing rapidly with introduction of new breakthroughs in the medical world.
Certificates were distributed to the students.

Hindu shrine inaugurated
MAYEM (HC): Youth leader and Advocate Ajeetsingh Rane has called upon the Kumbhar community in Goa to stand united for the upliftment of their community which has been instrumental in retaining the cultural heritage of India by achieving the motto ‘work is worship’.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Saint Goroba Kumbhar Punyatithi Samaroh at Kumbhawada-Bordem, Bicholim, organised by the Kumbhar community on Saturday evening.
Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, Mayem MLA Anant Shet, Bicholim Municipal Council Deputy Chairperson Shashikant Naik Halrankar, Councillor Anita Harmalkar, Bhagwan Harmalkar, Gokuldas Harmalkar, Vishnu Harmalkar, Ladu Kudaskar, Shankar Chodankar, Ramakant Shetkar and Vishnu Chowgule were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Councillor Anita Harmalkar, Rajendra Shetkar, Nandu Kudaskar, Bharat Harmalkar and Kamaldeep Pandit were felicitated by the guests for their meritorious services.
Earlier, Vilas Kunkalakar welcomed the gathering, while Satyawan Harmalkar compered the function.
Ration quota for May
PANJIM (HND): Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has stated that for month of May 10 kgs of rice and 5 kgs of wheat per card will be distributed for month of May to APL (Above Poverty Line) cardholders. 60 kgs of rice will be distributed to the families of Below Poverty Line (BPL) and 35 kgs to Antyodaya (AAY) families per card.
10 kgs of rice per card per month will be supplied to the beneficiaries of Annapurna (ANP) schemes free of cost. Sugar will be distributed @500 grams per person to families in all categories except APL families.
The Fair Price Shops owners have been directed to lift the stock the commodities immediately and release the quota of May. They are also advised to display the sample of the quality of commodities supplied to the cardholders.
Complaints if any in case non supply of PDS commodities and the quantity and quality supplied by the Fair Price Shops may be made to the Directorate of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Panjim.
