This year India will be represented by the largest team ever at the World Photographic cup. To be held in Dallas Texas the team of twenty will be captained by Goan, Rohan Goes. The team has for the very first time a majority of Goan photographers. More than 90 percent of the team is Goan. The selection of the team was done last year in October and the work was sent to the WPC committee. Roah said he was confident of a good showing saying the quality of work was improving every year.

The The World Photographic Cup (WPC) 2024 WPC Awards Presentation will be held in Dallas Texas - USA between April 27-29. This event celebrates individual medallists, finalists and Best of Nation winners, as well as our Top 10 national teams, with the winning team being presented with the World Photographic Cup.

The team includes photographers like Christopher Fernandes, Royce Fernandes, Sara Joshica Cardozo, Manuel Clement, Flitto Oliveira, Austrio Rahul Vaz, Ashton Medeira, Synthia Pereira, Amit Naik, Brito Fernandes, Semy Fernandes, Angelina Fernandes, Milton Esteve Fernandes, Aaron Desmond Domingos, Mackniven Eudes Pereira, Blancy Severina Fernandes, Amanda Kemmy Mendes, Jesly Vaz and Ambika Agrawal

This prestigious event not only celebrates individual medallists, finalists, and Best of Nation winners but also crowns the winning national team with the coveted World Photographic Cup. The World Photographic Cup stands as the sole Olympic-style photographic competition, where teams represent their respective countries. This global event, held in different parts of the world each year, aims to showcase winning images, promote excellence in photography, and encourage artists to push the boundaries of their craft.

More than a mere competition, the WPC serves as a platform for photographers to exhibit their work, gain international recognition, and forge connections with fellow artists and industry professionals. As Team India prepares to shine on this esteemed stage, the World Photographic Cup continues to be a beacon for the global photography community, fostering creativity and excellence in every frame.

Speaking to Cafe, Rohan said the parameter for selection was that participants had to send images that suit the category and that he would have to select them. There were 10 categories and they included wedding, portrait and commercial, wildlife, digital illustration, landscape to name a few. In the portrait section there were two categories, natural and illustrative. In wedding there were documentary and creative.

Rohan said, “I check the photographs, I have to see if they fit the needs of the competition. If it is competitive enough, I then look into how it was captured, the different perspective and the different artwork and importantly the creativity of the photographer.”

When asked how he managed to get so many team members, he said as he got recognition, he started getting more inquiries. His name and number was on the website of the organisers.

One hopes the team returns home laden with medals in various categories.
