VASCO: Brother of Shivani Rajawat, killed in the Vasco vapour blast on November 18 has filed a police complaint alleging that his sister and mother were murdered by his brother in law, a naval officer Anurag Rajawat.

He has also filed a complaint before the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Mormugao accusing his of the murder of his sister and mother in the New Vaddem vapour cloud explosion incident. He has named Anurag Rajawat, husband of Shivani, for allegedly planning the murder and also against his (Anurag’s) mother for her alleged role in dowry harassment.

While speaking to media, late Shivani Rajawat’s brother, Shubham Singh Chauhan has said that he does not trust the police on the investigation. “How the police handled the case since beginning is very disheartening. Central agencies should investigate the matter,” he said.

Convenor of Bailancho Ekvott, Auda Viegas said that the police should have treated this as a murder as it smacks of a homicidal plan and not an accident.

"I have written to the Chief Minister of Goa to investigate the case through independent Central agencies. Because of too many unanswered questions, the case needs thorough investigation,” she added.

Shubham, who himself is a police officer in Madhya Pradesh, arrived at the Vasco police station in the morning and attempted to meet the PI Kapil Naik. Later he had a long meeting with the cops, after which his complaint was inwarded. However, it has still not been registered.

On Thursday he is scheduled to meet the Sub Divisional Magistrate, who is probing into the dowry angle of the case.

Case recap: On November 18, Jaidevi Chauhan (50) and Shivani (26), wife of a Naval Engineer Anurag Singh Rajawat, were killed in an explosion in Vasco. What was initially referred to as a cylinder blast was found to be a gas vapour cloud explosion.
