The government had advertised for the post of the President of Administrative Tribunal after the incumbent Rajesh Narvekar retired in July this year.

But the three-member committee comprising senior Judge of High Court of Bombay at Goa Justice M S Sonak as chairman and Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and Secretary (Law) Chokha Ram Garg during interview found all candidates unsuitable for the post.

Law Minister Nilesh Cabral told Herald that since all candidates have been found to be unsuitable to be appointed to the post, the government will re-advertise the post.

Cabral said that after the post of the President of Administrative Tribunal fell vacant all the cases had to be transferred to the District Court, Panjim. But for the last three months and more, the District court had not heard cases, which were pending before the Administrative Tribunal and the government will again write to the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, requesting him to appoint the District Judge to hear the cases till such time the vacant postion is filled.

According to Cabral, the post of the Additional President of Administrative Tribunal is also lying vacant for the last few years and there are no immediate plans to appoint him.
