PANJIM: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh on Friday said that the allegations levelled against him in connection with Assagao house demolition case were completely baseless, invented and preposterous.

Speaking to the digital channel Singh said, “The report is baseless and it does not have any truth. I I know the social and cultural ethos of the State very well. I enjoy a very good relationship with the force. You can ask any subordinate. These sorts of things are not part of my personality.”

According to Singh, “the complaint came to the police department on April 4. Then it was sent to SIT after discussing it with the same officers. I read that there is a mention of a meeting. These allegations are baseless, invented, preposterous. No DGP would ever level especially the planting of drugs is a very very preposterous allegation, No police officer will ever tell another police officer."

When asked as to why he did not contact Anjuna PI, who made the allegations and seek clarification over the authenticity of the statement, the DGP said that efforts were made to contact the PI but he is under suspension. Even SP North too was instructed to (speak to him). The matter is under investigation.

Stating that it was not proper to react to a speculative story, Singh said, “I would like to make it clear that there is no relationship of any kind with Pooja Sharma. She has never visited this headquarters. Her advocate had come to lodge a complaint once.”

“Neither I nor any of my officers do not have any connection to her. She is an ordinary complainant. Ordinary complaint is referred to in field formation and in this case also the same has been done,” the DGP said.
