PANJIM: While construction of elevated corridor bridge at Porvorim has been announced and it is expected that the work for the bridge will commence next month, the Traffic Cell of Goa Police has said that traffic management plans are being made to ensure that no one is inconvenienced.

“We are in talks with the Public Works Department (PWD) and other departments. A traffic management plan is being prepared so that minimum inconvenience is caused to the visitors. We are also identifying alternate roads for those who come to visit Goa or go to cities like Ponda for their regular job. We are hopeful that the situation will be managed in a better manner,'' SP (Traffic) Akshat Kaushal, IPS told reporters.

The elevated road connecting the Manohar International Airport at Mopa to National Highway and work on the six-lane elevated road at Porvorim is likely to start from next month.

Recently, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the construction of the elevated six-lane road at Porvorim will start before the end of January.

The Chief Minister had said that alternate roads will be provided before construction for the bridge starts.

Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Ltd, Rajasthan has bagged the tender for the construction of a six-lane elevated corridor (flyover) project at a cost of Rs 364 crore.

The project tendered in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode is expected to be executed in 24 months’ time. After construction of the project, the contractor will have to maintain it for 10 years.
