MARGAO: Finally, Kala Academy, Goa has scheduled August 3 for the distribution of the much-anticipated prizes for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ group tiatr competition held five months ago.
On Thursday, Kala Academy’s Programme and Development Officer issued a press note announcing the scheduled date for the distribution of the prizes.
The delay in distributing the prizes to the winners of the tiatr competition in both categories has resulted in disappointment among the amateur tiatr artistes from the winning groups.
However, Kala Academy recently clarified that there is no actual delay; instead, the postponement was due to a Code of Conduct enforced during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Kala Academy, Goa, has been organising the tiatr competition for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ groups to provide five platforms for amateur artistes and to promote and preserve the original form of tiatr for several years.
Recently, the 9th ‘B’ Group tiatr competition was held at the Kala Academy auditorium from January 22 to 31, featuring the participation of eight groups. This was followed by the 49th ‘A’ Group tiatr competition, which took place from February 20 to March 6 and saw 12 groups competing.
Afterward, the Code of Conduct for the recently held Lok Sabha elections came into force on March 16.
Govind Gaude, Minister for Art & Culture and Chairman of Kala Academy will preside over the function and give away the prizes.
Kala Academy has appealed to all the prize winners and participants to be present for the function.
