PONDA: In response to a report published by O Heraldo in its August 7 edition, the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) and the Public Works Department (PWD) took swift action to clean Kranti Maidan. This public space, which is not only the venue for various National Day celebrations but also a popular spot for morning and evening walks, especially for senior citizens, had recently become hazardous due to slippery floor tiles following heavy rainfall.

PMC Chairperson Anand Naik confirmed that the cleaning initiative was undertaken to ensure that senior citizens can safely use the area for their regular exercises. The slippery condition of the tiles had caused inconvenience, making it difficult for the elderly persons to continue their routines at the Maidan.

The cleaning of the Kranti Maidan’s entrance and surroundings has been met with appreciation from the community, particularly from the walkers, who frequently visit the space.
