CALANGUTE: The Post mortem report of the 4 year-old child allegedly killed by his mother Suchana Seth has revealed that the child was smothered to death using a pillow or other object nearly 36 hours ago. The post-mortem of the child was conducted at the Hiriyur Hospital mortuary, in Karnataka after the mother was arrested on Tuesday night.
The father of the deceased boy arrived from Indonesia and was present during the autopsy. He has taken custody of the body and has flown it to Bengaluru to conduct final rites.
The Goa Police remained tight-lipped till late at night on the details of how the boy was killed. However, Dr Kumar Naik and Dr Range Gowda, who conducted the post-mortem on the body of the child, revealed how the gruesome murder, which has evoked countrywide attention and universal condemnation, was carried out.
Dr Naik while issuing a video statement given to media in Hiriyur late evening, said that the child was smothered.
“The boy could have probably died due to suffocation using a pillow or other object. The child doesn’t seem like he was killed by strangulation using hands,” he said. “The killing took place over 36 hours ago. The face and chest are swollen due to suffocation. The child’s nose was bleeding,” he said.
Some important observations of the doctors who conducted the autopsy, also suggested that there was no blood loss or injury marks and no signs of struggle on the body. All signs suggest strangulation (without the use of bare hands). It’s natural for a child to struggle during strangulation, but there are no evident signs of the same. There are no signs of scratches also on the body,” the doctor said.
