MAPUSA: The Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC), Mapusa granted bail to Chinmay Majumdar, who was arrested after he allegedly took Rs three lakh from a person seeking a government job by promising to get her the job, but later failing to deliver on the promise.
According to the complaint filed by Smita Salgaonkar of Tarwado, Colvale, Majumdar allegedly dishonestly induced the complainant that he would use his political influence and offer her job in the government department for which the complainant must pay him Rs three lakh towards the job. The accused further promised her that if he fails to give a job he will return the money.
The Court after hearing the arguments advanced by Adv Myron Araujo felt that the concerns of the investigating officer, who was opposing bail, could be taken care of by imposing appropriate conditions on bail.
Majumdar was released on bail bond of Rs 20,000 and a surety of a like amount.
