Vaccination woes at South Goa district hospital

Published on

Recently, the children's vaccination center has been shifted to the 4th floor of the SGDH Hospicio and I would like to express my concern about the inconvenience it has caused to the general public in this regard.

Firstly, the initial waiting room is filled with ceiling fans that run at low to very low speeds even though the speed selected is maximum.

Secondly, there is a drinking water filter that is non-operational.

Lastly and most importantly, I don't understand why the actual vaccination is being carried out in a corridor (next to a non-functional billing counter) when there are well ventilated and spacious rooms/halls available.

Parents and infants are made to sit in a corridor to await their turn where there is just one pedestal fan provided at the start of the line. Meanwhile, there is room opposite this waiting line with good working fans and lighting where the nursing staff are sitting with 3-4 tables only to fill up about 25% of the hall. It seems really unfair and improper space usage.

I request the concerned authorities to rectify these issues in public interest. Newborns and nursing mothers should NOT be made to go through these ordeals.
