Couple booked for assaulting bar cashier, two tourists

PANJIM: The Porvorim Police have registered a case against an unidentified couple for assaulting a cashier of a bar and restaurant and also two tourists from Kerala. 

The incident occurred on Sunday night in a bar and restaurant at Porvorim when the unknown couple with their common intention abused and assaulted the cashier with slaps and punches, and when the complainant Shyam Krishnan from Thrissur, Kerala tried to save the cashier, the accused abused the complainant and his friends in filthy words and further assaulted the complainant with slaps, kicks. 

The couple also damaged the complainant’s vehicle and threatened him and his friends with dire consequences. 

A video of the incident later went viral on social media and there were reports that the unknown male accused was a son of a former Minister Avertano Furtado. But the former Minister later clarified that his son was not involved in the incident and filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell, seeking action against the person responsible for tarnishing his son’s reputation.  

The Police have registered the case against the unknown couple under Sections 323, 504, 427 and 506 (ii) гead with 34 IPC. The police are learnt to have identified the couple involved in the drunken brawl and are conducting investigations.
