MARGAO: On Wednesday, frustrated citizens of Curtorim, along with their political leaders, marched to the office of the Power Department to draw attention to frequent power supply disruptions and dug-up roads left unrepaired across the village.

A delegation led by Zilla Panchayat member Michelle Rebelo, accompanied by Congress leader Moreno Rebello, demanded immediate resolution of the issues affecting Curtorim. Citizens claimed that they are enduring difficult times due to frequent power outages and emphasised the risks posed by the roads dug up for underground cabling.

“Unrepaired roads pose a danger to pedestrians and motorists,” said

Michelle Rebelo. She said that officials from the Power Department assured them that they will investigate the issue and work towards resolving it promptly.

It is pertinent to note that citizens had previously raised the issue of unrepaired roads in the constituency before the onset of the monsoon, but no action was taken.

Berta D’Costa claimed that she suffered significant losses in her bakery business due to repeated power failures in recent days and said that they not only affect daily operations but also disrupt revenue generation. “It is very disheartening that local issues are not taken seriously, exacerbating our problems,” she stated.
