MARGAO: The Goa Police traffic cell has unveiled a traffic management plan in anticipation of the large crowds expected to gather for the Fama festival in Colva on October 16.

Filomena Costa, the PI of Colva Traffic Cell, emphasised the need to efficiently handle the traffic flow during the event. To ease congestion, heavy vehicles traveling to Colva from the Old Market circle will be redirected at the Dholio Service Station in Mungul to follow an alternative route via Benaulim. Buses and other large vehicles heading to Colva beach will face diversion at the Greenhouse bar junction. Similarly, heavy vehicles traveling from Colva to Margao will be rerouted at the Colva Circle, directing them to Sernabatim and the Monte Hill junction.

For traffic coming to Colva from Vasco, Cansaulim, or Majorda, redirection will occur at the Betalbatim junction, leading them through the Mungul junction.

A strong police force comprising ASIs, Head Constables and constables will be manged by a team of three PIs and 15 PSIs, he revealed.
