PANJIM: Is the Goa Police hell-bent on giving ‘permanent relief’ to kidnapped accused Pooja Sharma in the high profile Assagao demolition case?

The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court rejected the interim relief petition of accused Pooja Sharma of interim relief from arrest.

The lower court has already rejected her anticipatory bail petition. But the Goa Police have not arrested her, 22 days having passed after the house demolition seemingly giving her permanent and greater relief than what she has sought in Court.

The public prosecutor has argued that Pooja Sharma is part of the conspiracy and that it depends on the Goa Police to arrest her. So why are they not arresting Pooja Sharma?

Representing the Crime Branch, Government Advocate Pravin Faldessai said that he strongly opposed the interim relief sought by Pooja Sharma after the latter made an oral submission. He said that the anticipatory bail application filed by Pooja Sharma has been posted for hearing on July 15. According to him the police can arrest the applicant since she was not granted interim relief sought after the principal and Sessions court dismissed the interim relief application on July 10.
