PANJIM: Vincent Ramos, Senior Vice President of IHCL passed away just before sunset on Wednesday evening, shocking his colleagues in the hospitality industry and his entire family at the company and the ‘Taj’, the flagship portfolio among the entire bouquet of brands, Mr Ramos shepherded in Goa.

But Goa’s loss was greater. She will mourn the passing of this alumni from Mont de Guirim school and a boy from Chorao, who created islands of excellence as a leader at the ‘Taj’, a brand that so many Goans who work in the sector consider the Mt Everest of hospitality. And when the boy from the island became the General Manager of the ‘Best Hotel in the World’, Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur in 2016, it was the “anything is possible moment” for so many Goans.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, in a statement, said, “We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Vincent Ramos. His passing is a tremendous loss to IHCL and to the hospitality sector in Goa. A towering figure in the industry, ‘Vincy’ as he was fondly called, will be remembered for raising the benchmark and mentoring and moulding many to follow in his path. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
