VASCO: Stating that Goa does not generate electricity on its own so people are now facing power cuts, etc, Power Minster Nilesh Cabral Thursday said during the Assembly session most legislators agreed on the need to bring the power grid line as it is the need of the hour.

He was speaking during the laying of underground cabling work of 11kv Cortalim and Quelossim feeder to Verna Power Station.

He claimed that the people who are opposing will be enlightened about the relevance of this power line soon.

He mentioned that he had interacted with the Central Empowered Committee and requested them that if the present 110 KV line could be replaced by 440 KV Goans would get uninterrupted power.

The minister added that ‘merely having an infrastructure and mechanism won’t help unless there is a source of power generation’.

He urged the people to make use of "1912" toll free number which will help to register the complaints related to power cuts.

He was accompanied by Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, South Goa BJP chief Tulsidas Naik, Cortalim sarpanch Senia Pereira, Quelossim sarpanch Maria Souza and others.
