PANJIM: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have extended their heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the teaching fraternity on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day.

In this message, the Governor said “This day is celebrated on September 5 every year in India to acknowledge the contribution of teachers in the society. The day marks the birth anniversary of India’s second President and first Vice President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He is an inspiration for all teachers, besides being an eminent philosopher, educationist par excellence and profound humanist.”

He said, “Teacher is another name of wisdom in our ancient tradition. Teaching is a noble profession and teachers have traditionally been held in high regard and with respect in our society. Education is not merely imparting knowledge and skills to the students but in a broader sense it means moulding the tender minds and hearts into virtuous and positive individuals who can live in harmony with all existence.”

In his message, the Chief Minister said, “Since ancient times, teaching has always been held in high esteem in our country. Teacher’s Day is celebrated as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. They help us to become good human beings, a better member of society and an ideal citizen of the country. They mentor young minds and guide them to become responsible citizens.”

“I also congratulate the recipients of CM-Vashistha Guru Puraskar 2022-23. May you be an inspiration to your peers and continue your noble deeds in moulding successful and responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow”, the Chief Minister concluded.
