PANJIM: Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Herald Publications Raul Fernandes was conferred the ‘Lokmat Goan of the Year 2024’ award at a function organised by the Lokmat Media Pvt Ltd at Miramar on Wednesday.
Mr Fernandes was given the award for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of journalism by the Lokmat group.
The event was attended by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, senior ministers, and MLAs, as well as well former Chief Ministers Luizinho Faleiro, Digambar Kamar and South Goa MP Fransisco Sardinha.
On the occasion, industrialist Anil Counto was awarded the Goan of the Year 2024 award by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao received the Best Legislator award while, Poriem MLA Deviya Rane was awarded the Emerging Politician award. Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh was conferred the Best Efficient IPS Officer award and Pernem DySP Jivba Dalvi was awarded the Impactful Police Officer award.
The other awards given were as follows: Best IAS Officer - Secretary (Higher Education) Prasad Lolayekar, Best Bureaucrat - Director of FDA Jyoti Sardessai, Health - Urologist Dr Madhumohan Prabhudesai, Environment - Ramesh Gauns, Best Horticulturist - Vithal Khandekarpar, Sports - Suyash Prabhudesai, Art and Culture - Rajdeep Naik and Best Startup - Gautami Raikar.
The awards are a testament to their remarkable accomplishment and the impact the recipients have made in their respective field.
Lokmat Media Pvt Ltd Chairman Vijay Darda, led the host Lokmat team at the function.
