CALANGUTE: In a bone-chilling incident, Suchana Seth (39), a high profile Bengaluru- based tech entrepreneur and CEO of Mindful Al Lab, has been arrested in Karnataka, while fleeing in a taxi from a star apartment facility in Sinquerim Goa, after killing her four-year-old son, and then carrying the body stuffed in a bag.

The Calangute police confirmed her identity as well her twitter profile.

Seth, whose LinkedIn profile describes her as an “AI Ethics expert and on the list of 100  brilliant women in the AI ethics list”, was arrested after the combined and quick efforts of the hotel staff, the Goa police and their Karnataka counterparts managed to track down the taxi in Chitradurga about 135 km from Karnataka, and arrested her there.

The crime came to light when the hotel staff noticed that though Seth had checked in with her four-year-old son on January 6 late evening, the boy was missing when she checked out early on Monday morning.

The police informed that she had arrived in Goa after booking her flight online on January 6. She however wanted to check out on Monday and was in a tearing hurry to leave the hotel and requested the receptionist to book a taxi to Bengaluru.

“The receptionist advised her to book a flight ticket which was much cheaper than the taxi fare. She insisted that she wanted to travel by taxi,” police said.

The police further stated that the receptionist did as directed, and the woman left with her briefcase. It was only when the room boy entered the apartment, he noticed blood-stained pieces of cloth lying on the floor and alerted the receptionist. Taking no chances, the hotel management informed the police as they realised that the woman had left with a bag and that her son was nowhere to be seen.

When the police called up Seth, she told them that her son was with her friend at Fatorda and gave a fake address. Suspecting something amiss, the police called up the driver and directed him to go to the nearest police station, which was at Chitradurga.

The counterparts in Chitradurga checked the bag and were shocked to see the body of the minor boy stuffed inside. She was later detained at Chitradurga police station and the Calangute PI Paresh Naik along with his team reached Chitradurga to secure the custody of the accused.

In Goa, senior police officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh visited the apartment hotel at Sinquerim, where the crime was committed.
