MARGAO: The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) decided to continue with the monthly passes by charging them for 22 days for the month and not at the regular concessional rates.

Earlier, the KTC had issued a circular to all the government departments including semi-government and autonomous bodies that the monthly pass concession scheme will be discontinued.

KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar said that Government employees besides employees of semi-government and autonomous bodies and corporations will be issued monthly passes for 22 days for a month but not at the regular concessional rates.

It is pertinent to note that KTC Managing Director Derrick Pereira Neto is on record stating that existing passes issued to employees will remain valid until their expiration dates. However, no renewals will be approved thereafter.

It may be also recalled that the pass concession scheme for the government employees was launched by then Chief Minister Late Manohar Parrikar.

“Pass concession has been cancelled taking into consideration the transport alliances are being paid to the government employees. KTC suffered losses on the scheme in the past,” he stated.

Tuenkar informed that from July 1, temporary passes will be issued and thereafter permanent.

“Discontinuation of pass concession will certainly help the KTC to stop incurring losses,”  he claimed.
