CALANGUTE: Two cars parked by the roadside in Baga were damaged after an old mango tree collapsed on the vehicles at around 4.30 pm on Saturday.
A huge crowd of tourists present in the area for the weekend had a miraculous escape when the incident occurred close to the Tito's lane junction. No one was injured. Traffic on the busy Baga road was also blocked for over two hours as the Pilerne Fire Services had a harrowing time hacking off the huge branches to clear the road.
One of the owners of the car said that his vehicle was damaged and suffered a loss of Rs 50,000.
Meanwhile, a jackfruit tree collapsed near the petrol pump in Nerul at around 3 pm, blocking traffic on the Nerul-Candolim road.
