MARGAO: Taking into consideration the plea of the tiatr fraternity, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao (RBM) has decided to create slots of six days for tiatr directors to stage tiatr shows in November. However, the tiatr directors claim that it will be very difficult for them to plan in staging their shows at the last moment.

It is pertinent to note that earlier, Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes auditorium at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao was reserved for International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for the entire month of November, with the tiatr fraternity strongly opposing the move.

Sources said that Ravindra Bhavan, Margao had informed tiatr directors about the slots made available for the tiatr shows in the first week of November i.e. from 1 to 6.

It may be recalled that nearly 12 to 15 directors/producers had released and some had planned to release their new tiatr shows in November, but the non-availability of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao forced them to re-think about their plans.

They claimed that rather than staging tiatr shows, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao caused them huge losses and financial burden due to non-availability of the auditorium.

Just two days ago, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao had intimated the tiatr directors about its decision and had even contacted them to be present during the allotment of the auditorium. Few tiatr directors including Roseferns and John D'Silva managed to get the slots in the first week of November.

“Yes, as intimated by the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, few of the directors were present for the allotment of the auditorium. Ravindra Bhavan, Margao has informed us that Pai Tiatrist Hall will be available to stage tiatr shows from November 1 to 6,” Roseferns told O Heraldo.

He also appealed to the other tiatr directors to book the hall if possible and stage their shows.

However, senior tiatr director and former President of Tiatr Academy (Goa) Menino Fernandes, alias Menino de Bandar claimed that it will be very difficult for the tiatr directors to plan in staging their shows at the last moment.

“It is good that Ravindra Bhavan, Margao resolved to allot six more days to the tiatr directors, but this decision should have been taken long before so that tiatr directors would have planned properly,” he said.

He alleged that it was only after questions were raised by some pertaining to the allotment of auditorium for a ‘nattak’ in the first week of November, when the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao had announced that all will be reserved for IFFI.
