PANJIM: The news under heading “Two lose their private jobs for ‘panchayat not supporting’ candidate backed by Minister” published by O Heraldo, was incorrect and that both the youths are, as confirmed by their establishments, still working with them.

It was incorrectly and irresponsibly mentioned by the O Heraldo reporter, that Rajesh Kawthankar, a former two-time Socorro panchayat member and staunch BJP supporter had lost his job of a driver at Sulabh International ‘because he was supporting his close friend in the by-election against a candidate backed by local MLA’.

With the employers of the two youth confirming that the reports of their supposed exit from their jobs as false, the co-related reference to the Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA turns out to be baseless with no merit.

O Heraldo is examining the source of the nature and intent of the information for the report given and accepted, with a view to professional course correction in the matter.

Sulabh International State honorary coordinator Sushil Kumar told O Heraldo, that Kawthankar was still working and was currently on leave. “He (Kawthankar) is one of our oldest worker. He is currently on leave till June 25. He is still working with us and the report that he has been removed is fake,” Kumar said.

Similarly, Nexa, Porvorim, showroom manager Vivian De Noronha told O Heraldo that Prashant Halarnkar (who O Heraldo reported had also lost his job) was still in employment and that he along with three others has been sent to Malaysia for training.

“He (Prashant) is working. He has gone to Malaysia as part of work. He has gone on a trip for four days,” De Noronha said.

The Editor of O Heraldo, on behalf of the paper apologises for this report to its readers and those adversely affected due to it.

Meanwhile, as per records of the Porvorim police station, an FIR was registered against Baburao Halarnkar for allegedly illegally cutting three Sal trees worth Rs three lakh at Maina, Socorro in June last year.
