One win, one loss: Bittersweet day for Goa’s politicos

PANJIM: Leaders of various political parties had mixed reactions to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and INDIA Bloc candidates winning one seat each in the Lok Sabha elections which were held in the State on May 7 this year.

I congratulate Shripad Naik for securing a huge margin. I hope that good work will be done for the State and the country. I hope that our friendship will continue as usual.

I am thankful to the people of North Goa. I will not forget the blessings and support given by the people. I am bound to work for the development of Goa and particularly North Goa.

I knew that we would never get the lead. I knew that some lead will certainly go to the Congress. The Congress has got a lead of 2,000 votes but I am not worried. I am there with the people to address local issues,

We have won the North Goa Lok Sabha seat with a huge margin but lost South Goa seat with a narrow margin. However, we accept the results.

I am not happy with the polls in my constituency. I wanted more. We will have to go back and see what the reasons behind the defeat were. My expectation was to get a lead of more than 2,000 but unfortunately it is 1,700. Now we will have to work hard and convince a certain section of the people to vote for the BJP.

All our leaders at the panchayat level, booth level and youth have supported us with a hope that our government is going to deliver the promises which it has made. People of Sattari have remained united. At most of the booths the opposition has not been able to cross the three-digit mark.

I give credit for INDIA Bloc formation to party supremo Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal has completely changed the narrative against Modi and BJP in the short period of 21 days of campaigning during his incarceration.
