PONDA: Stating that politics are involved in the transfer order of hardworking teacher Neeta Naik, which would affect the educational prospects of around 110 students, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of the Government Primary School (GPS) Juna Bazaar, Ponda, led a march to the office of the ADEI (Asst Director of Education) in Ponda to protest her transfer. They demanded the cancellation of the transfer order and the immediate reinstatement of Naik at her school. The parents even warned that they would boycott the school if the teacher is not brought back. They submitted a memorandum to the ADEI Ponda.

It is learnt that the Director of Education, on July 25, issued a relieving order to Neeta Gurudas Naik, primary school teacher at GPS Juna Bazaar, instructing her to report to GPS Padel Betoda, Ponda. However, the PTA of Juna Bazaar objected, stating that the educational prospects of 110 GPS students would be affected if the hardworking teacher is transferred.

Parents alleged political motives behind her transfer and claimed that the officials of the Government High School operating from the GPS school building do not allow primary students to use the toilet facilities, causing hardship for them. Former students, including Viraj Sapre, protested and declared their support for the parents' agitation.

Pushpa Adani, President of the School Managing Committee of the GPS, stated that all parents strongly object to the transfer of Neeta Naik, highlighting her significant contributions to developing good teaching habits among students over the past years. Pushpa further mentioned that parents had enrolled their children in the primary school because of Naik’s sincere and personal efforts to educate all the students.

She emphasised that parents would discontinue sending their children to school if Naik is relieved for the academic year 2024-25. In view of the parents’ objections, she urged the government to cancel the relieving order issued to Neeta Naik and allow her to continue teaching at Juna Bazaar GPS.
