porvoriM: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral on Friday remarked that those residing in apartments on slopes should make provision for water even as the government is making arrangements to provide water to them.
Reacting to Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate’s demand to prepare a comprehensive plan to overcome the water crisis in some of the areas in her constituency Cabral said, “How will I provide water to them on the slopes? Let them enjoy the view and rainwater.”
At the same time, the Minister said that the government is still making arrangements to provide them with water. He said that it has now been proposed to construct a 650 cubic meters water storage tank and 2,000 cubic metre sumps at Oitem, Taleigao.
He said that the contractor has been selected and the work will start after getting the expenditure sanctioned by the finance department.
Earlier, Jennifer had said that people residing in areas of Borbhat, Sailebhar, Odxel and Oitem were facing water scarcity and were depending on water supply through tankers.
“Every day I am receiving phone calls from my constituents complaining about water shortage,” Jennifer said.
