SANGUEM: For the first time in the 61 years long history of SarvajanikGaneshotsavMandal Sanguem, hundreds of people were seen lined up to buy the donation coupons at Sanguem Municipal Hall much before it is release, at the hands of Sanguem MLA SubhashPhaldessai and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral.
While SarvanajikGaneshotsav Mandal Sanguem was known for its high end prizes for the donation coupons released during Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, this time the Mandal has set another new level by offering a double bedroom flat in Margao plus cash of Rs 27 lakh as first prize.
The people from not only from Goa but from neighbouring states were also seen queued to buy the donation coupons.
Given the huge rush for the donation coupons, the committee capped the limit of maximum two books per person so as to make the donation coupons reach maximum people.
The crowd was seen lined up since early in morning braving heavy rain which lashed the taluka.
The committee has released a total number of 1 Lakh donation coupons priced at Rs 500 each, carrying as many as 20 prizes. Besides the 2 BHK flat, the other prizes in the offing includes a 10 wheeler commercial vehicle of Tata Prima 2830K make besides cash of Rs 21 Lakhs followed by Tata Hitachi machine and cash of Rs 14 Lakhs as third prize.
Fourth prize is Mahindra Thar and cash of Rs 6.65 lakhs, Fifth prize is Tata Nexon vehicle and cash of Rs 4.70 lakh followed by Tata Punch (EV) and cash of Rs 4.70 lakh.
There are also another five Tata Tiago electric vehicles and cash prize of Rs 3.50 lakh each, five TVS and Honda Dioscooters plus Rs 50,000.
