VALPOI: In a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Pissurlem Farmers and Nagrik Samiti on Saturday demanded a solution to their water problems.
According to villagers, Pissurlem has 80 acres of agriculture land and around 150 farmers. Since last two years, the mining companies have failed to provide the affected farmers their dues. Farmers have been demanding that their dues to be released.
The farmers have also demanded construction of a water treatment plant in Pissurlem.
“We are facing water shortage since past many years. So we demand that the government release the water stored in the mining lease areas. Also, there is no public bus in our panchayat jurisdiction. Hence, we have submitted a memorandum to the chief minister requesting him to solve our water problems on priority,” said Hanumant Parab, convenor of Pissurlem Farmers and Nagrik Samiti.
