PANJIM: With the inclusion of postal ballot, the Goa Assembly election recorded an overall voter turnout of 79.61 per cent, which is still, three per cent lower compared to the polling recorded in 2017.
On the day of polling, February 14, the polling percentage recorded was 78. 94 per cent.
Of the total 11,64,224 voters, 9,26,848 exercised their franchise that included 4,42,718 male voters and 4,84,122 female voters. Total eight transgender had also cast their vote.
The Sanquelim assembly constituency, represented by the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, recorded the highest turnout of 89.63 per cent followed by Bicholim with 89.01 per cent.
With just 70 per cent turnout, Vasco recorded the lowest polling.
The constituencies like Priol, Mandrem, Pernem, Thivim, Mayem, Poriem, Valpoi in North and Shiroda, Marcaim, Quepem, Sanguem, Sanvordem, Curchorem and Canacona in South recorded over 80 per cent polling each.
The Catholic dominated Salcete taluka saw low response of electorate with polling ranging between 70 to 75 per cent across all eight constituencies—Nuvem, Curtorim, Fatorda, Margao, Cuncolim, Benaulim, Navelim and Velim.
