RAIA: Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna defeated Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim, 1-0, in the inaugural match of Founders Cup 2024 U-17 boys 9-a-side inter school football tournament, organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers and played on Chinchinim Church ground.
The all important goal was scored by Danstan fernandes in the 15th minute of the second half.
In the first half Godfrey simoes power packed short was well saved by Regina goalkeeper to keep the score 0-0 at half time.
In the second match, Manovikas School defeated St Anne’s High School, Agonda. Abner Viegas scored the 1st goal in the 10 minute with a clean placement to give a lead to Manovikas. Ruben Barretto and Nathaniyal Lobo scored a goal each to make it 3-0 for Manovikas. At half time Manovikas were leading 3-0.
In the second half St Anne’s tried hard to equalise but Manovikas defenders showed their mettle.
Earlier chief guest Fr Christphor Fernandes and guest of honour Mario Furtado son of UCV founder Late Joe Meny Furtado inaugurated the tournament.
