PONDA: The Bethora-Borim road condition has worsened after the retaining wall collapsed at Mhalshi-Curti.

Cracks appeared on the tarred road, and the workers have used plastic covers to protect the remaining portion from further collapse.

The 100 metre long portion of road has been barricaded to ensure commuters’ safety.

The workers blamed the collapse on trenches dug for power cabling and gas lines at the landfill site, which resulted in water stagnation.

The locals feel that lack of a proper drainage system is the reason for collapse of the retaining wall  and suggested a proper drainage system to prevent further damage to the landfill site.

The widening of the road was done by filling the land, but the lack of proper drainage caused the retaining wall to collapse.

The road widening has been carried out by filling the land.
