MAPUSA: Nearly four months after a Rottweiler mauled two minor siblings at Oitiyant-Taleigao, the Colvale Police booked two brothers on charge of negligence in handling their dog of the same breed which attacked a 10-year-old girl at Katurlimwado, Camurlim, on Sunday.

According to police, Pandurang G Khorjuvekar, the victim’s father and resident of Katurlim Wado, Camurlim, lodged a complaint that Siddharth alias Roshan Shripad Khorjuvekar (29) and his brother Aniket Shripad Khorjuvekar (26), residents of the same locality, kept their dog unattended and free. Due to this, the dog moved near the complainant’s house and attacked his daughter while on her way home at around 11.45 am.

According to police, the dog has been medically examined at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry Veterinary Services, Karaswaddo-Mapusa and necessary formalities are being carried out to handover dog’s custody to the department.

The accused have been served notice under Section 41-A of CrPC and further investigation is in progress.

Head Constable Narendra Naik is conducting investigation under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mapusa, Jivba Dalvi and Colvale PI Vijay Rane.

It may be recalled that in August this year, the Panjim Police had registered a case against an owner of a Rottweiler after it mauled two minor siblings at Oitiyant-Taleigao, causing them severe injuries.
