PONDA: Seven persons were injured in a head-on collision between a jeep and a car, at Par-Usgao, on Saturday morning.
The injured included three from the jeep and four from the car. A woman travelling in a jeep was seriously injured while, a man suffered fractures to his legs and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Maharashtra registered car was proceeding from Goa to Belgaum while, the jeep was coming in the opposite direction. Both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident
According to the locals, many accidents have been reported on this road since the two-lane road suddenly becomes narrow there.
In another accident reported at Porvorim, a truck collided against a goods carrier, which veered off the road with the impact and crashed into the entrance of a private hospital. Several parked bikes were crushed by the goods carrier in the process. Luckily no one was injured in the accident.
