PANJIM: Percept Live, creators of Sunburn festival, in association with the Department of Tourism on Thursday announced the inception of ‘Goa Village’, a special cultural zone to be created at the 16th edition of Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) festival scheduled from December 28 to 30 at Vagator. 

This exclusive zone will be dedicated to showcasing and promoting the vibrant art, culture, cuisine and lifestyle of Goa from locally established and upcoming talents, informed organisers.

The promoters took to social media to reveal the big announcement that will not only showcase the diverse elements that make for the vibrant and rich art, F&B and culture of the State, but also enable established and upcoming talent residing in Goa to showcase and promote their talent at a globally acclaimed international music platform during the peak tourist season of the State.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said, “This is a very good initiative from Sunburn and I am sure the Goa Village at Sunburn will accurately showcase the varied and rich Goan culture to the entire world at such a big international platform. Local Goans need a platform to perform and display their talent on stage. I am sure that visitors to Sunburn will also learn about and enjoy the vast art and culture that Goa has to offer.”

Sunburn CEO Karan Singh said, “We look forward to working closely with the local Goan artistes across varied calibres towards jointly creating and setting up a one-of-a-kind zone which will showcase the multi-hued culture of the State as also offer local Goan artistes an international platform to display their talent to the world.”

Inviting Goans to participate in the creation of the all new ‘Goa Village’, the organisers said that the aim of the endeavour is to showcase to the world the vast and incredible history and culture that defines the quintessential essence of Goa. Sunburn has invited both -- recognised and upcoming talent residing in Goa to co-create the ‘Goa Village’ by contributing their unique talent to display the unique flavours of Goa. 

The invite extends into multiple domains spanning music including DJs, bands and singers, dancers, ancillary performers, variety entertainers, chefs, mixologists, artistes and designers in order to ensure the ‘Goa Village’ showcases the vast and prolific history, art and culture so distinctive to the State.
