She represented the Indian Hockey team in many World Cup tournaments from 1965 to 1974 and was the Captain of the Hockey Team from 1969 to 1973. She was the first Goan Arjuna awardee in 1974 and awarded the Shiv Chhatrapati Award in 1971. The Sports Stadium in my alma mater, the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, has been named after her in recognition of her services to India. She has also been recognized in the “Hall of Fame” in the All-India Armed Forces Medical Services.
