MARGAO: Expressing concern over water leakage at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, tiatrists have sought the immediate intervention of Directorate of Art and Culture to solve the issue at the earliest.

Tiatr director Pascoal de Chicalim referred to water leakage on the first floor and the ground floor in front of the Pai Tiatrist Hall.

It may be recalled that last month, there were complaints of water leakage in the premier auditorium.

Pascoal said that due to various other halls in Goa not being functional or having a conducive environment to host large-capacity shows, the Ravindra Bhavan Hall in Margao is the most sought after.

He said that thousands of tiatr enthusiasts not just from South Goa, but across the State come to attend these shows.

He questioned the poor state of affairs in Goa, given that the Kala Academy in North Goa is plagued with several issues which were highlighted recently.

Pascoal urged the Directorate of Art and Culture to intervene before any untoward incident occurs or any wall of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, collapses.

When contacted, Rajendra Talak, chairperson of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao said that all the renovation works are complete and that the water leakage issue is a minor one, which will be tackled soon.

“I am personally monitoring the situation, and preliminary measures are being undertaken to address the current issues promptly,” Talak added.

He assured that PWD would complete the work during suitable breaks in the tiatr/drama and public event schedule, considering the monsoon season.
