PANJIM: In startling revelation made on Twitter, a Japanese tourist, who was in Goa sometime back, has complained that he was looted by a group of nearly Rs 9.23 lakh (INR).

A Twitter user under the handle @tv_tatsuki tweeted that he was assaulted, confined and extorted of almost 1.5 million yen while he was in Goa on December 29.

His tweet read: “On December 29th, I was involved in a group fraud in Goa, India. The current total damage is about 1.5 million yen. JCB 367740 yen VISA 870,345 yen Cash 180,000 yen Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation 85,000 yen and iPhone11. I was robbed of it. I was assaulted in confinement and gave my PIN, so my credit card cannot be compensated.”

He has urged the authorities to support him and recover his lost money.

He has gone a step ahead and has shared photographs of the persons he alleged to have looted him.

This revelation has confirmed the advisory from the Japanese consulate warning its citizens of the crimes committed near the Anjuna beach areas.

Replying to the tweet of the Superintendent of Police North Goa Nidhin Valsan, the Japanese national said, “I've been sending emails to the police many times for a month and a half. I've told you many times that I want FIR.”

Superintendent of Police North Goa Nidhin Valsan said, “I have asked the person to send me a mail and also sought his contact number. We will investigate into the information provided.”

It may be recalled that the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai had issued a advisory for its citizens visiting or planning to visit the popular Anjuna beach following the increase in the number of incidents of illegal confinement, fraud, false criminal cases and robbery involving Japanese tourists.

However, the Goa Police has denied coming across any such incident at Anjuna beach. The Police are now in a tight spot following the revelation made by the Japanese tourist on Twitter.
