MAPUSA: Five of the accused arrested for their alleged involvement in the Assagao house demolition were released on conditional bail by the Mapusa Court on Tuesday. Arshad Khawaja, a broker from Dona Paula, who had allegedly gone to demolish the house with the bouncers, car driver Ashfak Kadar Shaikh of Mangor Hill, Vasco as well as the three women bouncers have been granted conditional bail by the Court.

The Court ordered that Arshad Khawaja be released on a personal bail of Rs 25,000 and two lakh sureties.

Similarly, the Mapusa Court released the car driver Ashfak Shaiklh and three women bouncers on bail. The Court released them on a bail of Rs 20,000 each and two sureties in like amount each. They have been asked to report to the Crime Branch police station for a period of 10 days and not to visit Assagao and not to tamper with the evidence.

According to the police, Shaikh had conspired with the main accused persons and gave his vehicle for commission of offence. So far the police have arrested six persons and are on the look-out for other accused, who are at large.


Why was Pooja Sharma allowed to file anticipatory bail application?

PANJIM: While the common man is being arrested for routine incidents even accident cases, why was Pooja Sharma allowed to file anticipatory bail application before the Sessions Court? Why were her call records not tracked? This is because someone at the highest level has been interfering in the investigation, alleged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Was Crime Branch personnel sleeping and allowed Pooja Sharma to come to Goa and file the anticipatory bail application before the District and Sessions Court, Panjim? 

He alleged that the Crime Branch sent her a letter under section 41 A of CrPC and gave her a chance to file the anticipatory bail application. This is happening because there is law and order failure in the State.

The AAP has also questioned why the Director General of Police (DGP) not punished when serious allegations are made against him? Why are his phone calls not investigated?


‘How did Pooja Sharma get mutation done in 24 hours and on a Sunday?’

PANJIM: The Goa Kul Mundkar Sangharsh Samiti has questioned how the land owner Pooja Sharma was able to do her property mutation on Sunday within 24 hours.

The Goa Kul Mundkar Sangharsh Samiti coordinator Dipesh Naik on Tuesday demanded an inquiry of all officials including the Bardez Mamlatdar and others, under a retired High Court judge. He said that since the mutation was done on Sunday clearly shows that the government was involved in it.

They pointed out that kul mundkar cases were not settled for years, despite directions from the High Court. They also alleged that the North Goa Collector had no time to meet them.
