 Crime Branch Apprehends Iran national for Illegal Possession of Drugs at Anjuna

Crime Branch has successfully cracked down on a drug racket, leading to the arrest of an Iranian national and the seizure of a substantial cache of narcotics and cash.

On March 23, 2024, at 01:41 hrs, a case was registered under Section 22(b), 20(b) (ii) (A) of the NDPS Act, 1985, based on the complaint filed by PI Laxı G. Amonkar of the Crime Branch Ribandar Goa. The operation stemmed from a raid conducted on March 22, 2024, by the Crime Branch PS team, led by PI Laxi Amonkar, at H.No.1542, Piquen Chivar, Anjuna, Bardez Goa.

The raid resulted in the apprehension of Hamid, aged 41, an Iranian national residing at the aforementioned address. The authorities seized the following items from the accused:

258 grams of dried fruiting tops suspected to be Hydroponic Weed (Ganja).

52.190 grams of Black sticky substance suspected to be Charas.

4.110 grams of purple-colored heart-shaped tablets suspected to be MDMA.

2.470 grams of white-colored crystal-like substance suspected to be MDMA.

Cash amounting to Rs. 41,300/- in various denominations.

Total Worth:

The total value of the seized drugs and cash amounts to a staggering Rs. 12,65,100/-.

In light of the seizure, the accused has been arrested, and charges have been filed under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985. Additionally according to the police, a separate offence will be registered for violations under the Foreigners Act. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities diligently pursuing further leads.
