In a rather swift development, Anjuna Police Inspector Prashal Desai, PSI Nitin Naik have been suspended in the Assagao house demolition and kidnapping case. The suspensions came after the Chief Secretary conducted the inquiry, which has been instituted by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The Crime Branch has formed a 4-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to further investigate the Assagao House demolition case. The four-member SIT has been formed under DySP Rajesh Kumar with PI Ninad Deulkar, PI Laxi Amonkar and PI Vikas Deykar under the supervision of Rahul Gupta IPS, SP Crime.
Meanwhile, three more persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch. This includes Ashfak Kadir Sheikh, resident of Mangor-Vasco, for providing the vehicle to the main accused for commission of the crime. The vehicle has been seized by the police.The vehicle was captured in footage captured from the scene of the crime. Further investigation is ongoing.
The other two arrested by the Crime Branch in the Anjuna case no. 82/2024 are two bouncers Mohamed Imran Salmani aged 34 r/o Cortalim and Azim Kadar Shaikh aged 34 r/o Vasco. Both were present at the spot and were part of mob that tried to demolish the structure.
The vehicle Toyota Innova GA 09 A 9xx3 which was used during the commission of the crime was also recovered and attached by the crime
