In anticipation of the sacred observances of the Holy Week Triduum, the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa will be closed to tourists and visitors starting from Thursday morning until Sunday, announced Fr. Patricio Fernandes, SJ, Rector of the Basilica.

The closure, which begins on March 28th and concludes at 11 am on March 31st, is to facilitate uninterrupted religious services during this significant period in the Catholic calendar.

Fr. Fernandes emphasized that all liturgical services conducted during this time will be in English, catering to the Catholic community's spiritual needs. The schedule includes solemn observances such as the Lord's Supper on Maundy Thursday, commencing at 5:00 pm, and the Passion of the Lord service on Good Friday, starting at 3:00 pm.

Ahead of the main services, devotional activities will take place, including the Way of the Cross at 10 am, the Three Hour Agony at 12 pm, and the Divine Mercy Novena. On Holy Saturday, the devotion of Mater Dolorosa will be conducted at 10 am, leading up to the Easter Vigil service at 11:30 pm.

Easter Sunday will see Masses celebrated in Konkani at various timings, including 7 am, 8 am, and 9:15 am, marking the joyous culmination of the Triduum observances.
