Following the unfortunate Balli school bus accident involving a BalRath School bus transporting students from Cuncolim United High Secondary School, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed concern and sought a detailed report. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when the bus lost control due to a locked steering wheel, resulting in an overturn and subsequent minor injuries to ten students, while two suffered head injuries.

CM Sawant emphasized the responsibility of school management in ensuring the proper condition of buses, citing regular funding provided for maintenance purposes.

“The Balli school bus accident is unfortunate. I have sought a report on it. We have been giving funds to maintain Bal Rath buses regularly. The school management should ensure that the buses are in proper condition, “said Sawant.

Seventeen injured students received immediate medical attention, being swiftly transferred to the South Goa District Hospital for treatment.

In response to the incident, opposition leader Yuri Alemao and Quepem MLA emphasized the urgency for serious action, urging the Chief Minister to prioritize comprehensive safety audits for all student transportation buses across the state.
