Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated on 30 April every year to commemorate the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) by the Government of India. This scheme offers a benefit of 5,00,000 per family per year. No restrictions on family size, age, or gender.
PM-JAY has defined around 1,650 medical packages in Goa for covering surgery, medical, and daycare treatments. A total of 36 hospitals 22 Public & 14 private are empanelled in the state of Goa.
The agenda of the day is to create awareness about the scheme and its benefits and to promote the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare for all.
Under Ayushman Bharat, by strengthening the primary healthcare system, Health and Wellness Centres have made vital services more accessible to underserved and rural areas. Numerous preventive, promotional, and curative treatments are provided by these centers, including vaccinations, screening for non-communicable diseases, critical medications, and maternity and child healthcare.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana has assisted in lowering the prevalence of poverty and debt associated with medical treatment by offering financial protection against catastrophic healthcare bills, therefore fostering socioeconomic growth.
