Concerns over reckless driving persist despite recent school bus accident
Published on

Despite the recent school bus accident that occurred in Balli injuring several young innocent students, the KTC "Mhaji Bus" scheme buses on the State route continue to drive in a rash and negligent manner. A citizen travelling on a Margao to Canacona bus complaines that the driver was driving in an extremely rash negligent manner posing serious danger to the lives of its commuters and the general public.

The incident happened on Saturday December 9, 2023 morning around 11.30 am.

The KTC "Mhaji Bus" was heading towards Canacona from the Margao Kamat hotel bus stop.

Concerned citizens asked who's responsible for this particular serious issue of rash and dangerous driving. Will this particular KTC "Mhaji Bus" scheme driver license be immediately suspended and cancelled and the bus permits withdrawn and cancelled? Or will someone have to die and be killed for our government authorities to take the necessary strict action against this particular habitual offenders.

It may be noted that several school students and commuters travelling on town to village routes have been complaining and of overcrowding and rash driving by bus operators. However, there is no respite to concerned passengers.

The Road Transport Office of South Goa and the taluka level offices are helplessly understaffed and without resources to conduct any sort of enforcement drives.

The issue of the safety of passengers in public transport has come back to the fore after the Bal Rath accident that happened in Balli injuring several innocent school students.
