Vijai Sardesai, President of the Goa Forward Party and MLA of Fatorda, along with the Fatorda Forward panel councillors of Margao Municipality, today announced a proactive initiative to clean up the Fatorda constituency in preparation for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi Festival.

Speaking at a press conference, Sardesai highlighted the challenges faced by the Fatorda Forward councillors, who have been made dependent on the whims and fancies of the ruling chairperson and the staff of the Margao Municipality. He pointed out the deliberate neglect in providing municipal labor to clean up the constituency, which appears to be an attempt to tarnish the efforts of the councillors and the party.

"In light of these challenges, our party has taken up a private initiative to ensure that the Fatorda constituency is clean and ready for the festival. We have hired our own contractor to clean all 12 wards within the constituency," Sardesai announced. The initiative will see the deployment of grass cutters, JCB machines, laborers, and other necessary machinery to clear grass along the streets and eliminate black spots in the area.

To facilitate this effort, a helpline number (8888411111) has been established, where locals can report areas that need attention directly to their ward councillors. This initiative, set to launch on Independence Day, symbolizes a move towards making the Fatorda councillors truly independent, Sardesai emphasized.

"This initiative in no way absolves the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) staff of their responsibilities towards the constituency," Sardesai clarified. "We will continue to hold them accountable for their duties."

In addition to the clean-up drive, Sardesai outlined other key initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in Fatorda. He called for stricter enforcement to combat the issue of double parking in the city, emphasizing the need for smoother traffic flow and better access for all residents. Sardesai also urged the government to introduce electric buses for the people of Fatorda, highlighting the benefits of a cleaner, more sustainable environment.

On Independence Day, a significant milestone will be achieved with the laying of the foundation stone for the Fatorda police station and police quarters, to be officiated by the Chief Minister. This marks a crucial step towards enhancing the infrastructure and security in the area. Furthermore, Sardesai announced plans to establish a command center at the new police station. This center will be instrumental in providing safety, security, and public convenience through an extensive CCTV surveillance network across the state.
