The Cyber Crime Police Station (PS) registered a case (Cr. No. 19/2024) on May 9, 2024, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Information Technology (IT) Act, and Trademarks Act. The complaint, filed by an official of Big Daddy Casinos, alleged the creation of fraudulent online gaming websites impersonating the complainant's company.
The accused individual, operating under multiple website domains including https://game-bigdaddy.com,https://bigdaddygames.co, and https://bigdaddy-games.in, utilized false company logos, brand names, and casino imagery to deceive unsuspecting users. Through their deceptive practices, they violated both the IT Act and the Trademarks Act by unlawfully using the complainant's trademarks and impersonating their company.
After diligent investigation, it was revealed that the prime suspect, Adla Nithin Reddy, a 22-year-old dropout from Vignana Bharti Institution of Technology, Hyderabad, was behind the illicit operation. Reddy, who had pursued studies in Computer Science, utilized the assistance of ChatGPT to develop the fraudulent websites hosted via the domain provider "Hostinger."
Tracking the suspect's movements across different locations in India, a team from the Cyber Crime PS, led by PI Deepak Pednekar, apprehended \ Reddy at a five-star hotel in South Goa. Following interrogation, it became apparent that Mr. Reddy orchestrated the scheme for monetary gain.
The accused is currently under the custody of the Cyber Crime PS and has been granted a four-day police custody by the Hon’ble court. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities delve deeper into the intricate web of deceit woven by the accused.
